Perhaps a staple       of amateur theatre,
this charming play    by    John Patrick touches
the heart with insight into human nature and foibles. It
exposes the boundlessness of the human spirit, and examines the
fine lines drawn between family relationships and those of friendship
- certainly when the lure of money is involved. It illustrates what honest
and complex emotions have to do with relationships,  and how caring and
trust are not always centered around one’s own family,  but rather often is
found in the simple kindness and caring of strangers. The story revolves
around a perfectly sound Mrs. Savage being placed in a care facility
by her family, and her discovery and assuredness of her own sanity
being illuminated by newfound trust within the other “guests”
who become Mrs. Savage’s valued  and caring friends, and,
as is proven, her family. Heartwarming in intent and
content,  The Curious Savage was a delightful
change of pace for The Players,    and
introduced new talent to our stage
as well. It was played with
exquisite warmth, and
touching clarity by
the small, gifted
ensemble
cast.
