June 28, 29 & 30, 2001

In a full weekend celebration of the reopening of Long Prairie's restored
historic Reichert Hotel, The Prairie Players presented performances of
The Lee Pittman Players of New York City and Miami, Florida.
The gathering brought original members from Canada, Georgia,
North Carolina, New York and Florida. Lee formed the musical theatre
performance group of eight singers and two pianists in 1991, and they
performed a hybrid form of theatre in the round for private and corporate
parties extensively in Miami, Palm Beach, Naples, Chicago, Atlanta,
New Orleans, Charleston, etc. Among the group is pianist extraordinaire,
Alex Lacamoire - guest music director for The Prairie Players' highly
acclaimed '99 production of Pippin. Alex and contemporary,
Martin Bejerano - another highly gifted young pianist -
presented a twin piano concert on Thursday, June 28,
performing the works of Gershwin, Bernstein, Copland, and
jazz classics. Both young men are multi award-winning
pianists, and this concert was a dazzling event. The
following two nights, Friday June, 29 and Saturday, June 30,
TLPP presented a staged production
in the style and fashion of the Reichert Hotel's heyday in the 20's
and 30's. The shows had fresh, original arrangements by
Lacamoire, Bejerano, McCann and Pittman, featuring the music and lyrics
of the Golden Age of music: George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter
and Rogers and Hart. The production was accompanied by both Alex
and Martin. Added to the retro mix were dinners in the theatre's commons
featuring items from the menu served at the original 1903 grand opening
of the historic Reichert Hotel. In addition, on Wednesday, June 27, the members
of TLPP conducted a Q&A Forum on performance and theatre.
Students and musical theatre enthusiasts were cordially invited.

Included in the reunion week were:
The Lee Pittman Players
Marti Capodiferro, Martha Hester, Karen Lewe, Ellen Soldo,
Jose Gell, Ian Knauer, Roger Reynolds, Martin Bejerano,
Alex Lacamoire, & Lee Pittman
